Now a few things that could be improved I believe:
- The ranking system is based on the number of won games. As this clearly gives advantage to those who played lots of games when they had a lower rating, it seems a poor way of ranking people. However, the ELO computation seem to work just fine. So I would suggest ELO is used instead of "score" to rank all players. This would make a lot more sense to me and would be fair to all players, whether they play a lot or not.
- The tranlation is many languages is more than poor; it's sometimes impossible to even understand! I have tried French and Russian (well, my wife did try Russian, not me", and we both switched back to English as it was easier to understand. Question: can we help improving the translation in those languages?
- Many parts of the web site are in Spanish only (including most of this forum stuff :-(); that makes it very much unfriendly to us. Something to improve upon, in my opnion. I appreciate this is lots of work though.
- And finally, a question: the max number of games I can play went from 10 to 25, some day. How is this set up; what made it change? |

Concerning the language thing, I have actually realized that the English also could do with a serious review. For example, "Submit the game" should most definitely be replaced by "Resign", as "submit" is not only incorrect but also misleading in my opinion. |

I will try to answer everything.
There are two systems of ranking. +-1 and ELO.
In the zone of ELO you can see the ranking compared with the one of +-1. You can make click on the title of the column to see the different arrangements.
At the end you will see that it does not change hardly.
Much struggled, much, on the change to system ELO and it was decided by enough majority to maintain +-1. (75%)
About languages, I feel to say that I speak only Spanish and a little English.
There are some translations better made because somebody (excellent) like you aid translate, but when it is not thus, I make it through an automatic translator.
If you give me your email, I can send files .txt in English, Spanish, Russian... so that you correct them.
For it, you can write me to the "contact" for you private e-mail address,.
Finally, the number of played games causes that they are possible to be played, in the beginning 10 and later, 35. It is only for avoiding that a person requests many games who later does not play.

thank you developing this website. and congratulation. your ELO ranking is ok. even we have a different language still we understand in ajedrez. i can understand english well
but also tried to understand spanish harder. but just go on tony with your work & don't
worry to much with still we can cope up with your site.
